Red grandis is a sustainably grown tree that is durable, rot resistant, and not attractive to insects, so is used for exterior furniture as a substitute to cedar. Unlike cedar, however, Red Grandis has almost no knots or sapwood, so is very nice and clean. It is prized for Adirondack chairs, swings, etc, and although not good for direct ground contact, is very weather and rot resistant, and is a prized exotic wood for such products as well as shutters, windows, door framers, cabinets, etc.
